Blindness Set Photos

Thanks to 'anonymous' in the comments section of a post on The Film Experience who provided a link to a batch of set photos from Fernando Meirelles' new movie Blindness, based on a novel by Nobel Prize winner José Saramago and starring Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Danny Glover, Gael García Bernal, Sandra Oh, and Alice Braga of City of God playing 'Girl with the dark glasses'.

The photos are all on a street made to look, I guess, bombed out and/or deserted. I've never read the book, but I'd imagine there's some dystopian elements involved, making this Julianne's second journey to a less than perfect future in recent years (the excellent Children of Men being the first).

I'm a big fan of Meirelles-both City of God and The Constant Gardener are among my favorite films-and it's hard to imagine this going wrong with such a great cast involved. Count me among those who can't wait to see this in 2008.

The rest of the pictures can be found here

City of God was one of the best movies EVER (but uh. made me think twice about going to Rio).

I was so pissed at my career decision when I took my current job, thus cutting me off from trying to get to work on Blindness. Argh... Apparently FM loved the crews here though so vowed to return! Yey us!

Wait...what would you have done for them?

Oh no. you're missing Pushing Daisies? where'd you go? (it's probably exciting enough to warrant missing tv (maybe, haha...I'm actually gone this weekend and early next week to South America and the first thing I thought was, damnit, I'm missing TV))

Anyways, uh... shh... but I work as a assistant art director (basically a set designer) but I think I made a wrong career move this year by returning to my current gig (that I did last year) instead of holding out for movies like Blindness, oh well, the nature of the business.

Just went to an advanced screening of Blindness. I read the book a long time ago, the movie is amazingly close to the text. A difficult feat when dealing with a concept such as blindness. I am a big fan of FM and I recommend Blindness!

Wait....you saw it? Do tell.

I was in the theater and they asked me if I wanted to see a free movie. Dumb question! After I saw that it was Blindness I was taken aback, because I didn't think it was coming out recently.

The theater was packed and lots of security looking for hidden cameras and such. They warned us before the movie started that it was not finished. At the end the passed a questionnaire regarding favorite scenes, least liked, and to rate everything: actors, music, photography, etc.

Long story short. The movie is amazing. My only negative comment was about the music, it didn't quite fit the mood of the movie, and specially in a couple of dramatic moments it was very light.
