Riddle Me This:

If your character's name is in the title, you have more screentime than anyone else, and 75% of the story is told from your character's perspective, that makes you . . . supporting?

Needed to be said.

Everyone Breathe a Sigh of Relief

Via The Carpetbagger:

It has been decided that, after all the hubbub, "Falling Slowly"-the best song nominee from the indie musical Once- IS eligible and was included on the ballots. Thank god.

Now, as long as they don't have Beyonce sing every song or award a truly terrible song like they have in the past, I'll be happy.

You will be excited for this movie, even if I have to change the name of this blog to The Rural Snow Angel.

Yes . . . this is the second time I've posted this trailer. Doesn't matter. It's still as amazing as ever.

On a side note, it seems Olivia Thirlby is the new queen of the Sundance film. Heck, Sam Rockwell is kind of the king at this point.

The SAG Awards: A Story in Pictures

Now, I COULD talk about what the surprise win by Ruby Dee means to the Oscar race or the touching tribute given by Daniel Day Lewis to Heath Ledger, but I think I'll just poke fun and make wild assumptions instead.

First of all, this has got to stop.

I'm SORRY, but there is a difference between scruff and nasty looking laziness. When did razors go out of vogue? Seriously . . .

LOOK, JUST LOOK. Take note male celebrities . . . you aren't being different or anti-establishment anymore. You're just following a trend.

At this point, showing up to an awards show looking like you DIDN'T wake up from a bender three minutes ago is a statement.

MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY is shaven . . . MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY. When Mr. Yeehaw looks classier than you, it's time to reconsider.

Still, it beats showing up dressed in costume as your eccentric aunt* . . .

. . . or Norma Desmond . . .

. . . or should I say Mrs. Robinson?

Lest you think I'm being ageist, I will say that Michelle Pfeiffer was looking as hot as ever.

LOOK! The stage just got 50% douchier.

Speaking of douchebags, guess what you are if you wear sunglasses indoors?

Maybe he's hung over from a wild party the day before.

And maybe he went with Kristen Stewart.

Speaking of completely made up celebrity couples, someone at the SAG Awards was doing their job.

That's two amazingly gorgeous people. The cheekbones . . . oh, the cheekbones.

But really, how fantastic did Kate Beckinsale look?

I can't wait for Snow Angels.

But back to celebrity couples. Last night, some were hot . . .

. . . and some were decidedly not

Have you heard the rumor about her being pregnant? Who wants to bet the baby comes out Vietnamese? Any takers?

Vietnam . . . Asians . . . that reminds me. I love Sandra OH, but no.

Moving on, I don't think Mickey Rooney really understood what was going on.

By looking at that picture, you would THINK he was being honored last night. He wasn't, but he gave a speech anyway. He had a nice little joke about opening envelopes, though, so I'll let it slide.

Unfortunately, Mickey wasn't the only old timer who seemed a little . . . overwhelmed by the proceedings.

No, I don't mean Charles Durning. Poor Burt Reynolds, he looked pretty used up. Maybe he just came from a party . . .

. . . probably the same one Kristen Stewart was at.

I love that hat rack.

Congratulations go out to all the winners.

And last, but not least . . . Casey Affleck. Just because no one took a picture of you last night doesn't mean I didn't see you chewing gum when your name was announced. Come on now. Don't pretend like you'd rather not be there. We all know you're full of it.

This was all in good fun, just to be clear. I'm a fan of 90% of these people. These are just some observations I had to share.

*Let it be known that I adore Jane Krakowski, but that dress was crazy . . . endearingly so.

I Wish I Knew . . .

I don't know much about this whole Eurovison Song Contest, other than the fact that, supposedly, it's kind of a big deal/big joke over in Europe. What I DO know is that this performance is highly ridiculous/addictive.

I wish flight attendants sang on American flights.

So, umm . . . I'm Up for A Bloggie!

I feel like Laura Linney, waking up to hear I'm nomintated for an award I didn't for one second consider I would be in contention for. Thanks to any and everyone who's read my blog regularly, commented on my posts when I thought no one would ever care what I had to say.

A lot of you have blogs and, I guess it's just the self-doubt in me, but I always feel so unaccomplished by comparison. I still do, but it's nice to know people are at least enjoying my ramblings. THANKS! Getting this nomination is wildly unexpected and is really amazing.

That being said, we all know winning would be even more awesome. I mean, I'm in college, and $20.07 could feed me for weeks! (Or buy me movie tickets, to be honest). So, would ya do me a favor and vote for me here. I'm up for 'Best Teen Blogger'. GRACIAS!

I'll . . . think of something to do to thank people for voting.

I hear ya, Jennifer . . .

New My Blueberry Nights poster

I suppose the best thing to do at this point is move on so . . . that's what I'm going to do.

Now, I know this is maybe the 17th post I've done on this movie, but I just had to post this amazing new poster. It's so gorgeous, but what else can you expect from something with Wong Kar Wai attached?

This poster seems to be playing up the ensemble of the film rather than plastering Norah Jones or Rachel Weisz all over it. Promising, isn't it?

For One Night, They Were the King and Queen

The wonderful thing about film is we'll always have him.

R.I.P. Mr. Ledger

This one really hurts. It's always said when someone dies, and this sadness is magnified (at least in the popular consciousness) when we lose someone famous, someone we all know. Rarely, though, is a death as shocking and out of nowhere as this.

Heath was at the peak of his career, and it's clear that he will be an icon of our generation. After all, his last two roles will be Bob Dylan and the Joker. At only 28, he had his whole career in front of him. Now that the media circus has started and gophers are rushing around FOX News with tapes of Heath Ledger discussing death at press junkets like Joan Cusack in Broadcast News, it is important for us to remember the really amazing talent that drew us to him in the first place.

Many people, like me, first became aware of Heath as he was romancing Julia Stiles in 10 Things I Hate About You. He was good, but nothing prepared me for the absolutely spectacular performance he gave in Brokeback Mountain. I'm not just saying that as some Brokeback fanboy. I actually believe it.

I know we all have great memories of Heath. Share them if you feel like it.

EDIT: And as if we didn't have enough reasons to HATE Westboro Baptist Church.

Holy F#ck!

Via The Movie Blog comes this look at the Grindhouse box set with no set release date in North America as of yet. Completely amazing.

Am I the Only One Highly Disturbed by Janet Jackson's New Video?

Because I really don't think this has anything to do with dairy products.

Happy Birthday Freddy Rodriguez!

With all the hubbubb surrounding the birth of goddess Deschanel, I somehow overlooked the fact that it's also the birthday of the gorgeous Freddy Rodríguez.

Funny how life works. The man has been on my mind all day since I came across a kind of bizarre retelling of the Biblical story of Joseph featuring him in the title role. It didn't exactly make sense for him to have an entirely Caucasian family (including THREE Bottoms brothers- Sam, Timothy, and Ben), but he was really the only reason I watched it at 2 a.m. when I should have been sleeping.

JA had a nice post devoted to him after the release of
Grindhouse last year, and he mentioned how hard it is to find good pictures of him on the internet. Unfortunately, not much has changed in the past year.

I've been a fan of Freddy ever since his days spent on HBO, but it was Grindhouse that really endeared him to me. Who would have thought that an actor who's only 5'6" and is usually seen in supporting roles could be that bad ass . . .?

. . . even on a minibike

So Happy Birthday, Freddy! Take some more pictures this year, mkay?

In Case You Found Us by Googling Pia Zadora and Jermaine Jackson Singing . . .

Hope you're not disappointed!

Happy Birthday Zooey D.!

Everyone's favorite actress turns 28 today. I know we can't wait for The Gospel According to Janis.

It takes the best actresses to rock even in the the worst pieces of crap, so it's nice to see Zooey finally starting to get her due.
