Children are scary

Especially when they're Swedish vampires . . .

Couldn't Have Thought of a Better Name Myself

Disaster Movie

Another year, another horrific looking parody movie. Honestly, when will people stop going to these things?

And have we honesty reached the point where these movies are parodying not movies but trailers? Because Hancock isn't even out yet, and The Incredible Hulk wouldn't have been out while they were making this movie. How can you parody something you haven't even seen? You can't.

MUST. SEE. NOW.

You will be excited for this movie, even if I have to change the name of this blog to The Rural Snow Angel.

Yes . . . this is the second time I've posted this trailer. Doesn't matter. It's still as amazing as ever.

On a side note, it seems Olivia Thirlby is the new queen of the Sundance film. Heck, Sam Rockwell is kind of the king at this point.

Baby Mama Trailer

I love Tina Fey so I'm willing to give anything project she's attached to a shot. Based off of the premise, I wasn't sure how to feel about this, but I laughed several times while watching that trailer.

WEEKEND UPDATE REUNION!

Snow Angels trailer

I know this is kind of old news, but I have seen the trailer for David Gordon Green's up coming film approximately 10 billion times during this movie-a-thon, and I never get tired of it. It's fantastically done, and this is easily one of my most anticipated films for 2008. Thinking of this will make January easier to get through . . . not that I don't LOVE Japanese horror remakes.

Mamma Mia! has a trailer

Is there anything Meryl can't do? Because, if there is, I haven't found it yet.

Of course I'm seeing this. How can I pass up Stellan Skargard, Colin Firth, and Pierce Brosnan singing ABBA? Throw in Amanda Seyfried (who, along with Rachel McAdams, stole Mean Girls right out from under Lilo) in a lead role and a shirtless Dominic Cooper, and you've got me.

Just one thing: why does everyone look so orange? It's like Charlize Theron's spray tan gone bad from the 2003 Oscars all over the place.

'In Bruges' trailer

If I'd grown up on a farm and was retarded, Bruges might impress me, but I didn't . . . so it doesn't

Didn't know there were any prostitues in Bruges.

You just have to look in the right places . . . brothels are good

AND . . . I'm not gonna quote that last one except to say that Ralph Fiennes looks incredible (who knew he was funny?) and that I can already tell you people will be quoting this movie incessantly. I will be one of those people.

Repo: The Genetic Opera trailer

There are no words.

EDIT #1: Ok, I'm kind of obsessed with this trailer.

EDIT #2: That girl in the white about 6 seconds in...is that Alexa Vega? DAMN!

Today:

Ladies and gentleman, we are a LONG way from Spy Kids.

August Rush

Have I written about how much I'm anticipating August Rush yet? Because I really am. I'm hesitant to post the trailer for a few reasons, but here it is:

Right off the bat, let's get something out of the way. Yes, that was Robin Williams with a quasi-Southern accent. I apologize for putting you through that. Based off of the trailer, however, it looks like we might get lucky, and his part will be VERY VERY small.

As for the rest of it, I would be tempted to write it off as overly sentimental if it weren't for this woman.

The director, Kristen Sheridan, was nominated for an Academy Award for co-writing the screenplay of her father Jim Sheridan's film In America. That movie, about an Irish immigrant family coming to New York, could have easily revelled in cheap sentimentality, but it was too intelligent and honest for that. She's earned respect from me, and I trust her judgment enough to give her the benefit of the doubt. Besides, it's always nice to see a female director making interesting work.

And, come on, we get two talented, amazingly hot leads: Keri Russell and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

They Play Instruments!

They Make Sweet Love on Rooftops Like Bohemian Rockstars!

They Brood and Flaunt Their Perfect Skin!

They Have A Super Adorable, Freakishly Talented Child Played by Finding Neverland Phenom Freddie Highmore (Doing a Better Accent than Robin Williams)!

If you're not conviced by now, you must be a Communist.

Jumper trailer

Above is the new trailer for the sci-fi film Jumper, coming out in 2008 and starring Hayden Christensen in non-sucky mode (A.K.A. not directed by George Lucas), Samuel L. Jackson in bad ass mofo mode (A.K.A. Samuel L. Jackson), and Glenn's object of obsession Jamie Bell in smokin' bad ass mode (A.K.A. drool). Oh...and that chick from The O.C. is in it too, the one that isn't Mischa Barton (A.K.A. vomiting girl from The Sixth Sense, and no, I'm not gonna touch that joke). Rachel Bilson is her name...it took me a while to remember that, but I liked what I saw of her on the three episodes of that show I caught in reruns.

Oh...and sorry about the subtitles. I've no idea what language that is, but I'm pretty sure it isn't French.

Anyway, it's not really the type of movie I go for, but those shots of Hayden on Big Ben and the Sphinx are pretty freaking cool, I must say. Plus, Jamie Bell....I mean, come on!

Nostalgia Trailers

On Entertainment Weekly Popwatch today, they posted trailers from two of the most notorious pieces of crap released in the 1980's: The Pirate Movie, a musical starring Kristy McNichol and Christopher Atkins, and Gymkata, an action movie starring US Olympic medalist Kurt Thomas (which sounds awesome, I know, but don't be fooled).

The Pirate Movie trailer is...memorable, of course, but there's no beating some of the narration in that Gymkata trailer.

"Combine the discipline, the timing, and the POWER of gymnastics with the explosive force of ka-ra-tey, and a new, all-powerful martial art is born!"

"He must penetrate a mountain fortress to compete in an ancient, savage ritual. They call it....THE GAME!" (How'd they come up with that name?)

"When gymnastics and ka-ra-tey are fused, the combustion becomes an explosion, and a new kind of martial arts superhero is born!"

My Kid Could Paint That trailer

Anyone else want to see this as much as I do?

My Blueberry Nights

I couldn't care less about it's critical reception at Cannes. My Blueberry Nights looks like an incredibly beautiful movie, and every time I watch one of these character trailers my excitement builds anew. Why is there no US release date yet?! WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY?!

EDIT: By the way, how amazing is that last shot of Rachel Weisz standing in the middle of an empty street in the early morning with tosseled hair blowing in the wind? You can practically feel the heat of the sun on your face and the light breeze flowing over you.

EDIT #2: Norah Jones looks spectacular, truly spectacular. WKW knows how to make a girl look good. I mean, her long black hair under that green knit cap.......
